Artwork and Inspiration
When I was in elementary school (grade 4) I was in the playground and discovered clay under a 4" x 4" retaining wall pressed up against a hill. I remember asking my mother for a bag so I could take the clay. I don't know why I liked it, just that it was free and it came from the ground. When I entered high school my teacher introduced me to the medium again, I was hooked ever since.
The feeling of molding something into shape and all the steps involved in making a sculpture intrigued me to no end. With my ceramic students I let them discover what it means to create with your hands.
